Billy Goodnick is a landscape architect and design coach. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Billy’s family moved to Los Angeles when he was a kid, and now, he lives and works in paradise, or as you might know it, Santa Barbara, California.
He is well known on social media, and to many gardeners for his articles and award-winning blog for Fine Gardening magazine and his website.
In his book, Yards: Turn any Outdoor Space into the Garden of Your Dreams, Billy helps new gardeners figure out how to make a landscape from scratch, and people with existing gardens to make things better. He says steps to take include assessments of space, needs, light, wind, etc., to the importance of thoughtful shopping.
“How tall will the shrub get?” He admits this sounds like an obvious question, but also one for which the information may be hard to discover. “Visit gardens,” he advises, to see how things grow in your area and help in plant selection.
Billy shares step-by-step recommendations. He can be the guide for beginners and a thoughtful advisor for people wondering how they can make their “Yards” address their needs and be a space for rest and relaxation as well as a home to favorite plants.
