I am so pleased to welcome Riz Reyes to Ken Druse Real Dirt. Riz was one of the six people that I profiled for an article in the April/May issue of Organic Gardening Magazine– The New Generation. He is one of the young guns of horticulture.
Riz has a BS in Environmental Horticulture & Urban Forestry from the University of Washington – specializing in Public Horticulture. He has his own design and maintenance practice in Seattle — RHR Horticulture and Landwave Gardens — and works part time at the University’s Botanical garden.
The big news is all about his recent triumph at the 2013 Northwest Flower and Garden Show (below). Among the awards his installation won were the Gold Medal, the Golden Palette Award (for color), and the Founder’s Cup for Best in Show Garden.
We talk about his hopes for the future of gardening in America.
