Help — At Last
“Those of us who love plants may
eventually develop close
relationships with them. They have subtle and intriguing ways to communicate
with us. Healthy green leaves let us know that the plant is growing well,
manufacturing food from the sun’s energy. Yellowing leaves with dark lesions
tell us the plant is in trouble,” write my
guests on the radio show/podcast this week. David Deardorff and Kathryn
Wadsworth’s new book — What’s Wrong With My
Plant? (And How Do I Fix It?) — is an answered prayer for
all gardeners.
The
book is presented in three parts. The first is a flow chart asking readers
questions with illustrations of leaves or stems or flowers that lead to other
questions ultimately delivering an answer. If you have this condition, is it
accompanied by that one, or this one? Then, you are told the page where, in
part two, you will find the cure. Part three shows photographs of the actual
disorders. Best of all – it’s all organic! This book will become a must-have
reference volume for every potting shed shelf.
