A Few of Our
Favorite Things
Gardeners are the easiest
people to buy gifts for. We appreciate everything for the garden – from plants
to really useful tools and gloves. But silly tools and lovely gloves are not
always best. I love the Muck Boot rubber shoes, for example. They are
comfortable and waterproof. But I could not say they were pretty.
Dianne B is my guest this
week. Dianne B has always stood for style.I first knew about Dianne
Benson when I lived and gardened in the New York City downtown neighborhood of
SoHo where she had one of her groundbreaking clothing stores. But gardening has
become her passion, which she documented in the cult classic book — DIRT:
The Lowdown on Growing a Garden with Style. She has put together some items for the holidays on her website www.diannebbest.com, and we talk about
them – from plant labels to a monogrammed, hand-forged stainless steel shovel
that will last a lifetime.
