For 35 years, Dan Heims has been deeply involved in all facets of horticulture. He is a self-described hortiholic and a “sport fisherman” – hunting for variants in plants that may show up among tens of thousands of seedlings. If one plant exhibits variegation, it might be worth putting into production by his Terra Nova Nurseries. Dan’s job description dictates that he must “travel the world and seek the newest perennials.”
Terra Nova’s breeding programs have produced an astounding 600 new plant introductions to horticulture. Among this year’s new plants to look for are varieties of Kniphofia, Heuchera, Heucherella (below: photos courtesy of Terra Nova Nurseries, Inc.). Learn more about these plants, and find them in your area at the nurseries' website.
